First of all I am truly sorry for a pic-less piece. I accidentally deleted all pics on my camera :(
Unlike the pros, the new designers made my time well-spent at the fair. New blood, new POVs, new design styles were a real refreshment. And my favorite was Yasemin Özeri. She was actually the only designer I found worth taking a pic of, which should have been here, if I wasn't stupid. Yasemin worked with the neutral pastels of this season for simple designs that did not "try hard" with high quality cotton. Her tunics were practical but some pieces were not...in a good sense. There was a special order dress a bit like Ümit Ünal designs, but I loved it. And those who trust her legs should definitely get a pair of her pink or nude veil, tulle tights!
There was one stand that made me happy: CatzCabaret by Zeynep Erdoğan, designs of whom I was familiar with from Lazy in Galatasaray and Midnight Express stores. I met her new designs, wanted to try them on, will visit her studio. I saw a lot of her halter tops with attached ballerina skirts, but her collection with tuxedo annunciations was a blast. I want...no I need this jacket!
6-10 Mayıs tarihleri arasındaki Galatamoda'ya Cumartesi günü gittim. Eskilerin eskilerini getirmeye devam ettiğini üzülerek gördüm. Hatta artık Arzu Kaprol, İdil Tarzi ve Bahar Korçan standlarına uğramamaya karar verdim. Bence artık katılmış olmak için katılmaktan vazgeçmeleri gerekiyor. Önem vermeyip her sene aynı ürünü çıkartarak imajlarını zedelemeye başladılar.
I visited Galatamoda on Saturday, which actually lasted May 6-10. Unfortunately, I saw that the pros are still displaying pieces from previous seasons and GalataModa weeks and decided that I should not spend my time to pay visits to Arzu Kaprol, İdil Tarzi and Bahar Korçan stands. They need to stop participating this thing just to be there. When they don't treat it seriously and display the same stuff over and over again it hurts their brand image.
Bunların tersine yeni tasarımcılardan bir çoğu yüzümü güldürdü diyebilirim. Yeni kan, yeni bakışaçıları, yeni tasarım stilleri ne kadar yenileyici oldu anlatamam. Hemen favorimi açıklayayım: Yasemin Özeri. Fotoğrafını çektiğim tek tasarımcı oldu ve şu anda burada fotoğrafı olması gerekiyordu... Yasemin daha çok bu sezonun nötr pastelleriyle çalışmıştı. Gösterişli olmaya çalışmayan, kaliteli pamuktan, sade tünikleri müthiş kullanışlı. Bir iki parçası o kadar sade değildi, özel siparişle yapılan cinsten, biraz Ümit Ünal tasarımlarını andıran bir elbisesi vardı ki...Pembe ve ten rengi tülden, bürümcük taytlarındansa bacaklarına güvenenler mutlaka almalı!

Özgür'ün tarzını merak edenler Midnight Express Bebek'te ve aşağıdaki resimde Doğa Rutkay'ın üstünde tasarımlarını bulabilirler. Özgür'ün diğer "yeni" tasarımcılardan daha hızlı ilerlediğine şahit oluyorum. Nedeni çok açıkmış: Bir pazarlama ve satış uzmanıyla çalışıyor ve bunu kartvizitinde bile belirtiyor. Modanın sadece sanat olduğu hayallerini kuran potansiyel tasarımcılara duyurulur.
Ozgur Mansur's stand was one of my favorites. If you wonder his designs can be found at Midnight Express in Bebek and on Doğa Rutkay on the left. I've been witnessing that Özgür is moving ahead of all the other designers. The answer was clear all along: he is working with a marketing consultant and he even states this on his business card. Those potential designers who think that fashion is nothing but art should follow.
Beni hayalkırıklığına uğratan tek bir tasarımcı oldu: Deniz Yeğin. Kendisini çok beğenerek takip ediyorum. Kanyon'daki mağazası kapandıktan sonra Nişantaşı'nda açacağı konuşulan mağazasını da bekleye bekleye meyve vermek üzereyim. Trikoya getirdiği yorumu da aksesuarda yarattığı farklılığı da hep kendime yakın buldum. Galatamoda'dan elim boş çıkmayacağım tek stand olur sandığım yerde Deniz'in imzasını taşıyan tek parça göremedim. Vardıysa da imzasını değiştirmiş diyebilirim.
The only designer who disappointed me was Deniz Yeğin. I love her designs. After her store in Kanyon closed, I waited anxiously for the one supposedly be opened in Nişantaşı. I love her interpretations on knitwear and accessories. I thought it would be the only stand I would buy something from but saw nothing resembling of her signature. If there was any, then she surely changed her signature.
Beni en mutlu eden stand ise Galatasaray Lazy ve Midnight Express'lerden tanıdığım CatzCabaret oldu diyebilirim. Zeynep Erdoğan'ın bugüne kadar rastlamadığım tasarımlarıyla tanıştım. Denemek istedim. Atölyesine gideceğim. Ucundan tütü sarkan atletlerini her yerde gördüğüm Zeynep'in smokine göndermeler yapan bir tasarımları var ki...alın, alın, alın, almalıyım!
